Veterans Volunteers in Partnership (VIP) Program

The Veterans Volunteers in Partnership (VIP) Program provides community-based services and supports to Veterans and helps them remain living independently and in their own homes with dignity.

The VIP Program is specifically tailored to Veterans and their caregivers of any age with direct services provided by well-trained volunteers. RSVP’s services includes VA transportation and trips to medical and dental appointments, to pick up prescriptions, socialization opportunities, and shopping; Wellness Checks, Referrals to supportive services and Veterans resource agencies; Advocacy; Respite Care and Caregiver support; home companionship; pro bono legal services; personal emergency response systems; homemaker cleaning and companion services; elder exercise programs; and access to the Farmer’s Market Senior Nutrition program/coupons and food drop.

The VIP Program collaborates with veterans’ service organizations and other entities; and presents two community events annually: Veterans & Their Caregivers Community Resource Fair, and “Reaching For Zero” a Veteran Suicide Prevention & Awareness Event.

Veterans have opportunities to serve as volunteers and make peer connections with other veterans; and remain active, engaged, and social.

“In times of war and conflict, we leave no soldier behind…as well as at home, no veteran should be left behind. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office partners with RSVP so that no veteran is left behind.”

– Sheriff Ken Furlong, Carson City Sheriff’s Office

RSVP programs and services are offered at no charge with the exception of the monitoring fee from Lifeline; however, there are suggested donations for services. No one is turned away because of an inability to donate. Not all programs are available in each county. RSVP volunteers do not perform services that fall under professional health care services, such as nurses, aids, etc. We cannot lift, transfer clients, or administer medication.

For assistance please contact RSVP at 775-687-4680 or visit the Contact Us Page for a listing of the Field Office in your community.
