Volunteers: Your work is vital to clients

jhodnett3

As volunteers, we know our work is important, but in the day-to-day of providing service, it can be easy to forget just how much our time is appreciated.

This month, we received just such a reminder in the mail from the relative of an RSVP client who recently passed away. Hearing that a client is no longer with us is always heartbreaking, but knowing that we made a difference in their lives means everything. While no volunteers were mentioned specifically in this letter, we all contribute to the spirit of service this client experienced.

"He spoke very highly of you and was so appreciative of your being there for him, when he needed you."

Thank you for all you do every day to make Nevada a friendlier, healthier, safer place for everyone.

RSVP programs and services are offered at no charge with the exception of the monitoring fee from Lifeline; however, there are suggested donations for services.  No one is turned away because of an inability to donate.  Not all programs are available in each county.  RSVP volunteers do not perform services that fall under professional health care services, such as nurses, aids, etc.  We cannot lift, transfer clients, or administer medication.
